Have worked for a small company for seven years, five of those part time. We have recently had a restructure and training plans are being implemented.I was trained up to operate a production line whilst I was full time but there has been no written record of this.
After maternity leave I was moved to other jobs (I think while they tried to suss if I was hanging around or not). Eventually I was moved back to production line. I am now the lowest of the low, emptying bins and sweeping floors on line changeovers. New people have come in and worked their way up the ladder above me.I have complained but am told "you're part time". Now we are all expected to be trained on the production line. I have asked for this opportunity for the last five years. People from other departments are being trained up before me and now I hear a new starter is being trained up from Monday. When I asked why I couldn't be trained there was no answer but a very big unsaid "you're part time"
As from tomorrow I am the only female worker(not management) left at work, others have left because there is no advancement or training for them. I don't want to rock the boat as I know they are just itching for an excuse for me to walk out, but would I have grounds for complaining about discrimination on grounds of my gender and the hours I work or am I taking this too personally and need to realise as I'm part time and the only "girl" some things are just not available to me ?
Apologies for epic post !!
