Daily rate for copywriting?

I've been working freelance as a writer and editor for a long time, mostly in the charity sector. I'm now signed up with a commercial agency that does B2B and customer oriented writing for banks, shampoo brands etc. They've asked about my daily rate and I'm not sure what to say. They're bound to pay better than the not-for-profit sector but I don't want to overprice myself either. I know they think £250 a day for copy editing is reasonable. What would you ask for writing per day?

I would say your rate is £600 and then be prepared to go down to 5?

I am not a copywriter but I do freelance work for both the private and charitable sectors. I charge double my event fee / daily rate for a private client. Could that work for you?

this is a useful place for working out market freelance rates for all sorts of jobs.

Thanks all. Clara - have you charged that much for writing jobs before? I'd love to get that much obviously but fear they may balk...
