Where can I find micro/small businesses for sale?

Sorry folks, second thread in this topic - basically I am not going to be able to return to work as planned, due to DS1s special needs - so I need to either retrain (thats the other thread), or buy a small business that I can run from home, in school hours.

The problem is I don't even know where to start looking for that kind of business - googling has so far only found me the type of on line business where someone has created a website and wants you to pay for that - not something they have actually been running as a going concern IYSIM.

Any suggestions from you wise mumsnetters out there?

Good for you to take the plunge and to be able to care for your child as well.. From my own experience its great to have the flexibility that working away from home for someone else offen lacks. I am starting on a new venture now my kids are older so I want to sell my ebay bridal/cocktail dress business. It's all up and running and turned over £7500 last year and made a net profit of £1800. I only worked on it around 2 hours per week between my employed job and voluntary work so has lots of scope if you have more time to dedicate to it. A sale would include all current stock, goodwill with my suppliers (southampton based) mannequin, rail, packaging, 100% ebay feedback and eBay shop. Let me know if you're interested.
