Where do you look for job vacancies?

I manage a small plant centre/nursery/cafe & we have a few vacancies. I wondered where the best place to advertise them would be - where do you look if you are job-hunting? We'd rather not use the local press as we've had too many poor applicants that way..

At a large garden centre near us they advertise their vacancies on their own notice board.
Have also seen shops advertising a vacancy in their own window

Do you want full or part time?

If part time how about local college / 6th form / university?

Im Job hunting now. It depends what discipline retail, accounts, catering, marketing? The big generic sites that most people look at are jobsite, total jobs and monster. Try looking at jobrapido.com as this pulls in from almost all vacancy sites so you can determine what might work best for your vacancies. My last position was in a Garden Centre and we always found I store advertising along with the vacancy page on out website generated a good number of suitable applicants. You font happen to be in the North West and looking for a Marketing expert do you? no harm in asking Grin

Do you have a website and are you on Twitter/Facebook? If you are, and have local followers, the most effective way may be to Tweet links to your jobs on your website, or even just tweet about the jobs and get people to contact you, and put it on your Facebook page if you have one.

How about advertising at the nearest FE college which runs a horticultural course? You could ask for people with the RHS diplomas as an initial qualification?

Thanks all, I hadn't considered our local college, that's a great idea. We've put it on our Facebook page & hopefully that'll generate some interest. We've also got a notice up at work.
Unfortunately we're not in the Northwest ;) we're in Herefordshire :)
Thanks everyone
