Really struggling to find a name for my business, can anyone help?

Hi there
I make bandana dribble bibs and bunting and i am also buying in some baby things wholesale so i'm not completely handmade.
I just dont know what to call myself, it needs to be modern and catchy. I may have the opportunity soon to have my own little shop in my local town so the name really needs to be right. Once i have that sorted then i can sort the logo out.
I really hope you can help me, i'm so rubbish at this kind of thing :(

Thanks for any replies :-)

How exciting! Be careful when you choose a name that it doesn't limit you in the future. E.g. if you put the word 'baby' in it, what happens if you broaden to older children.

Also choose something that people will be able to spell easily from hearing it over the phone (as you'll probably want the name as your website).

You might think about using your name as all or part of it. Or your child/children's names? Or their favourite toy.

Is there some kind of unifying theme to your range? E.g. Is it all Fabric?

Try to avoid puns as they can date and lead to mispelling. And any shortlist you come up with put into Google to see if it's in use/already a website. Once you've got a name, buy the .co.uk and .com domain names so nobody else has them.

Dribble.

maybenow · 18/08/2012 19:40

Your OP had me wondering what a banana dribble bib is Blush
so i would suggest you don't use the word bandana as lazy people will read it as banana Grin

Ditsy Delight?

Little L (no real reason other than it sounds cute, crafty and reminds me of the song)

Just asked DP for input. Apparently he needs more info. Who is your target market? Who would be your customer?

yogabird · 18/08/2012 21:57

Bibster

naturalbaby · 18/08/2012 22:12

I had a small business selling baby things recently and went for an animal that I could use as a logo and in the name, and added an interesting adjective e.g blue giraffe.

If you look at your competitors, there are a few names that are very bandana bib specific (e.g skibz bibz), so if you are selling other fabric items then I would focus on that rather than the bibs in the name.

EduStudent · 18/08/2012 22:20

Any names in the family you'd like to use? Grandparents, great aunts, DC? It place names, like street names of where you grew up or a favourite place?

I like the Adjective + Animal suggestion, or just Adjective + Noun generally (think plants, foods, household items)

Agree with others about not giving it a name that will limit it Smile

TellyBug · 18/08/2012 23:01

Please, nothing with a z in the name!

Linz73 · 19/08/2012 06:52

Wow, thank you so much for your replies. I really love the animal/adjective idea.
My target market would be parents of children up to age 3 roughly I think but also with the bunting, I could make that for any occasion really, weddings, birthdays, christenings etc.
Now to think of an animal/adjective as I think I want to go with that.
Thanks again

Linz73 · 19/08/2012 12:33

I guess whatever I choose will be being used as well. Didn't see that many results for The Purple Monkey though. I still like it plus the co.uk domain name is available. Should I go for it?
