Hi all, after being unemployed for over two years i have been offered a job looking after a little one in their home for 30 hrs a week but its below minimum wage. Do i need to be registered? Also can i be self employed ? If not and im employed they have to pay min wage apparently?

No you can't be self employed and yes they must pay you at least minimum wage plus the right amount of paid holiday.

How do they work out what?

If they want to know minimum wage rates they look here.

If they want to know how much paid holiday you should have they look here

You should have an explore of that site to ensure you are fully aware of your rights. If you are looking after a child in their home you are employed as a nanny and you should also be aware that minimum wage is well below usual pay rates for nannies.
