Graduate CV

Have also put this in Education but trying here also ........
My DS has just graduated and got 68%.
Do you think he should mention this figure when he puts down his 2-1 degree info. 70% is a 1-1 (first ) .
I thought it would be a good idea to show how close he was to a first .He thinks he should just leave it as a 2-1.
He is applying for a graduate software engineer . I was naively thinking this may make him at least get an interview as it would make his application stand out .
Any thoughts gratefully received

As a graduate recruiter I have never really taken much notice of the percentage as it is ultimately overall grade that matters but I have noticed a growing trend towards putting percentage on and am now sometimes curious if they don't as it probably means they were at the lower end of the bracket.

In this case I probably would as it is so close to a first.

Because it will take up absolutely no more room on the document and because it's so recent, yes I would put 68% in brackets after the 2:1

well done to your DS, he's obviously very talented - so close to a first, i'm with the others, it's going to take up 1 more cm on a line that already exists on his CV, so I'd put it in brackets alongside as flowery said. it won't make a huge difference if he's not the right fit for a recruiter, but it could tip him from being a strong maybe into a 'yes' for interview.

the best of luck to him!

Thanks so much for your replies !
He is the first one of our family to go to university ,so this is all new to us.

Someone mentioned about a transcript he should now have got and I didn`t have a clue what that meant but have since found it and -proud Mummy moment -he has 9 firsts and 8 at 69% out of 21 modules !!
Many thanks

You sound like a very helpful mum jiggles. Sounds really good to put 68% to show how close he is to a first. That's amazing.

Sharpkat, is it too cheeky to hijack this thread and also ask you to look at my CV? I started a thread today about jobhunting, I feel I have been doing it non-stop for 2 years and don't really know who to ask for help. If you don't ask you don't get, right? Blush

Crunchie - please do send me it if you would like. Cannot promise to turn it around very quickly but promise to look.

Jiggles will reply to you now!
