Sorry, this could be a bit long.
DH started a new nursing job at the end of last year, but has struggled to settle, lack of support etc, and after a lot of hassle he was deemed to have not fulfilled their objectives in the time set and they decided not to renew his probationary contract. He was told it was trust policy that it had to go to the hospital board, and that he would hear. After waiting several weeks, he then got paperwork through calling him to a capability hearing (not quite what he'd been told!), and his contract was terminated.
So, having been through the mill with all that, we presumed it was over, and all he was told was not to apply for a job within the same clinical area (very high-paced) as he wasn't suited to it. He has since been doing agency shifts with no problems, and we have finally been able to have our family holiday which had been put on hold since all this started back in April.
We returned home yesterday to find a large envelope from the NMC stating that they have received an allegation from the hospital regarding his fitness to practise and that he has to attend an interim order hearing at the end of this month! This has come completely out of the blue, and understandably knocked him (and me!) for six. Aside from telling him to get a union rep ASAP (he didn't have one for the in-hospital stuff as they told him he didn't need one!), how else do I support him, and what do we do from here?
