I work an salaried annualised hours system where we are paid for our gross hours but are only expected to work our net hours (I work 14.5hr night shifts so this equates to around 3/4 shifts/week) If you want 'holiday' then you work more shifts (ie I took 2wks off last year so worked extra so that overall I'd do my net hours/month). I am currently working lots of overtime (paid at normal hourly rate) which takes me well over the gross hours. When I'm on mat leave do i accrue holiday at a rate of gross hours minus net hours or because we ordinarily are expect to work only net hours do I not get them?
Also we only get SMP but will the 90% of earnings in the 1st 6wks account for all the overtime or just my regular salary. I thought it was calculated on the last 6 wks of work before mat leave but didn't know whether it included overtime even if it was planned overtime (ie on a rota which is done 3m in advance)?
Sorry for the confusing post-I am going to ask HR about it but past experiences with them have not been great (ie they don't seem to know their arse from their elbow!) so wanting to have some other input as well!
