teenage summer jobs

A little concerned, we live in a seaside town and 17 yo DD did a trial today, unpaid fine for one day but they said its between her and another girl and wants her to work the week. It's unskilled and I think they might be pulling a fast one, keep getting free labour a week at a time, surely this can't be legal. I won't have desparate teenagers willing to work the summer taken advantage of.

Hmm, I wouldn't like that either, we always pay for work trials, would never expect anyone to do it for 'free'

I wouldn't be happy with that. Cheeky buggers. If they want her to trial they can pay for it.

I grew up in a seaside town and the local businesses were sods in ripping off teens.

well I will see if she is offered the job or not, all they have is an apply within notice, I shall investigate further next week if it dosen't work out. But rest assured I'll report them to the local council.
