I'll be working voluntary at DS1+2's school a few days a week so that in September I can start a Teaching assistant course.
Without the voluntary work I'd have to do the NVQ level 2 but as I'll have in school experinence I'll be doing level 3.

It will be 7 years on the 23rd of this month that I left work to have DS1....7 years!!
Feels quite strange TBH!!

Good for you

I'm wondering what I'm going to do with myself when ds2 starts school in Sept

LadyTophamHatt · 06/03/2006 12:04

I'm still going top have to work it all around Ds3 but I'm going to see the nursery on Thursday that I'm hoping he'll go to.

If you're still there...

Last week marked 5 years since I stopped work, and I'm putting off the return by having another baby this summer. don't really want to go back ever.

Good for you though, for rising to the challenge.

LTH - Grin

well I thought your news was interesting (sucking up emoticon)
7 rs is along time to be SAHM - I've done 3 so far.

emkana · 06/03/2006 19:45

I'm the same as purpleturtle.
5 years next month that I gave up work to have dd1. Having baby no.3 in June.

Atm I feel that I'll stay at home until no.3 goes to school, but we'll see. I admire you for getting back into it, I find the thought quite scary! I used to be a secondary school teacher, don't know if I'll ever go back to that. I could see myself doing what you're doing, so I might pick your brains one day!
Good luck!

cod · 06/03/2006 19:45

well done
do let themknow about corretc etiquette for your title

LadyTophamHatt · 06/03/2006 19:51

Had a look around the internet early and it seems you can do the course(or very similar) as a OU/distant learning thing too.

It's not as recognised as a qualification as the NVQ course but according to the OU site it will be soon. I thought that this could be helpful to anyone thinking about it too.

Trying to find out if the college has a creche but bizarrely they don't have a website!

My first day yesterday. It was FAB.
I'll even go as far to say the kids loved me!!!
At least 3 of the teachers/staff asked if I'd worked in a school/with kids before as I was a natural at it!

Back again on tuesday.

Only horror story was one poor little thing who had such a bad case of nits that I could see the eggs from about 10' away. She was absolutley running alive with them!!
