Reduction of hours, where do we stand? What can we claim?

DP has been told today that as of 1st August his hrs will be cut from37.5 to 15 (2 days). this has come as a huge shock, even more so as I am 20 weeks pregnant with ds3. Can he appeal, if he does what happens after that? If it all goes ahead can we claim anything? I work 30 hrs per week but only earn about 10000 pa. many help/advice would be much appreciated.

May depend on what his contract says about the hours he must work. Do you know?

Does his contract say anything about varying hours? Is it just him or lots of people? What are their reasons for doing it?

His contract says 37.5 hrs per week but they have told him there is not enough work so need to reduce. Can not make him redundant I don't think as they need someone to do his job iykwim. Is only a small company and only him this is happening to as he is the only web designer. They have given him 5 days to challenge the decision.
