Are you a freelance teacher / supply teacher who could give me a bit of advice?

I'm just setting up as a freelance teacher of primary languages. For September, I have 2 teaching slots and was wondering what to do about insurance / joining a union. I am not going to be earning stacks of money, so am not sure what to do. In the past, I have been a secondary classroom teacher and so have always been a member of a teaching union. Now, I am going to be self-employed and am not sure if people still join a union (even though I will only be working 1 day a week) or is it better to have some sort of personal insurance. Any ideas from people already doing this would be really helpful. Thanks.
