Teaching - readvertising job if changing job description?

Is it a requirement to do so? even if someone is already in post? In the situation where the person in post is finding their job doesnt match description therefore the description needs to be rewritten, is it a requirement to then re advertise the job?

No, there is no such requirement.

No legal requirement but you may want to check your employers policies to check, in case they madly have a policy to do this.

nailak · 12/07/2012 14:40

so if it is in the policy they have to do it?

is it some sort of best practice?

You need to look at the recruitment policy, the job evaluation policy and maybe the restructuring policy.

If its in there they would probably need to do it. It's not common best practice. In fact seems like it would be making extra work for no worth. If the new job description is similar to the old job description then legally they need to seriously consider redeploying the current postholder into the role anyway.

redeploying without re advertising?

is it possible that a new head that does this just doesnt like the teacher in the role and is trying to push her out?
