How much with you expect to charge for blog posts of upto 500 words written in a specialist area?

Ie, highly knowledge based, as opposed to fun creative writings?

In my experience, buttons. If it's a subject that can be researched online (and most things can be), you get paid a very similar rate as if you were writing something fun or if you actually knew something about the subject first.

The difference is that it's harder work so you actually get paid less.

Don't know about blogs but I've stopped writing content - it's a mug's game

I have had suggestions of everything between $10 and $40, so not sure how much is "the going rate".

Hi QS

I have paid £10 a blog as part of a package of blogs that were written and uploaded onto my website when I was really busy. She did a good job, however they were generic marketing topics and were more like 300 words. However she has just put her prices up, so would be £15 now.

So $10 - $40 dollars sounds about right as a range. My main concern about really cheap blogs writers, is that they may (not always) just cut and paste from elsewhere and if you are blogging for SEO this isn't good.

My general approach (for what it is worth) when choosing suppliers is to check their work, pick somebody who understands what I am looking for and go for the middle price. You can always try one and see how it goes?

Hope that helps.

My agency has just started offering this and under our promotion for it the cheapest is £20 when a block of 20 are bought (this excludes CMS, promotion and the other extras we offer).

To be honest this is a marketing activity aimed at expanding the business. Realistically you're looking at £40 for a 500 word article minimum for a professional job.
