I´m a lawyer, but foreign lawyer and I´m desperate to go back to work. I don´t intend to invest time and money to be allowed to work as a lawyer in UK because I found out that I never loved in fact my job. I have a 2yrs DD and she starts nursery, so, I have some time to study or prepare myself to another life. Any sugestion???

Thanks

Which country did you qualify in and what area of law did you work in? Is there anything you liked about your previous job? What do you really enjoy doing and what do you consider your best skills / talents to be?

combinearvester I graduate in Brazil and worked for companies and banks as in house lawyer. I enjoyed to contribute to close a good deal even if in back stages. I´m very objective. I like movies, tecnology, animals, love read the newspaper everyday specially about economics and politics...

I'm wondering if your language skills (presumably portuguese) would be useful for a finance company? There are recruitment agencies that specialise in multi-lingual applicants, it might be worth contacting one of them to see what work is around.

I also know some foreign-qualified lawyers who have found work in local authority legal departments, they obv didn't appear in court but did everything else. That may be another angle you could pursue and could be quite interesting doing the contracts or housing side. Again I would contact legal recruitment agencies.
