Part time hours - how much would I earn?

Hi

I'm planning to ask for reduced hours to start from September this year but thought I'd do the sums first to see how much income I would be losing.

Has anyone else done this? Is there some sort of online calculator? Or is this something one could ask one's HR department (before putting in request for PT hours or would this just alert HR to the fact that I was planning to request PT hours?)

I'm thinking of asking to work either 8am - 2pm or 9am - 2pm.

Thanks

There's a useful calculator on this site

\link{http://www.i-resign.com/uk/financialcentre/tax_calculator.asp\here}

in which you can put in your gross salary and it works out the net for you.

If you work out your hourly rate from your current salary and then work out a new gross salary based on the reduced hours, it will give you a good idea of what your take home pay would be.

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks for that online calculator, FrayedKnot!
