As the time to go back to work approaches I want to make the most of every day i have left with DD. What do you regret not doing before you stepped back on the treadmill?

i'm not back at work but just did my first keep in touch day and it has made me think about the treadmill, too, so this is a little bump to see if we can get some mn wisdom...

I wish I'd got round to sorting out my bikini line so I could take DS swimming. Still just about time...

Oh I'm shamelessly place marking.
I'm going back in 2 weeks after 2.5 years off... will be interesting to see what things I will miss. DDs are 7 and 21 months.

...won the lottery so I didn't have to go back.

...got DD to accept a bottle.

...worried less. It really was all ok in the end!

I wish I'd enjoyed my maternity leave more. I spent most of it dreading going back to work and leaving my ds in nursery.

When the time came, ds was 10 mo and settled well and I really enjoyed going back ( part time) !!

Also wished I'd lost the baby weight as had to shamefully ask for a bigger uniform (o

Oh what a good idea for a thread. I go back in November (not dreading it, not looking forward to it) but definitely want to know if there's something I'll regret not doing.

I wish i had spent more time finding my feet at work before going back. I have an 'anything could happen' working with children and animals job and i felt horribly out of my depth when i went back.

I wish I had enjoyed the slower pace. Being back at work is like being on a treadmill and I feel like I never stop. However, I have to say I am enjoying it and so is my DD. I work 4 days a week (two half days and three full days), and hubby and I are lucky enough to both be teachers so she is always picked up by 4pm latest. That means that we get a couple of hours play time before bed and she always eats her evening meal at home. Hubby picks her up two days a week and I the other three. I feel like I appreciate her so much more because I have been away from her and want to make the most of the time with her. She loves nursery and really enjoys going. I have to do a lot of work when she goes to bed but it is worth it xx

I wish I had decluttered my house.

Got a cleaner 5 years sooner than I did

Found the oven cleaning man.

Realised I did not have to be superwoman.

Ummaummaumma · 07/08/2012 19:27

Got the decorating done, now spending my holidays doing it.

Wish I'd done more cooking meals for the freezer, and childproofing etc. Though actually as I went back 3 days/week when ds was 11mo it wasn't too bad. He loved nursery and I enjoyed the work/home balance, at least for a year until work got crap.
