Alternative job title

We need a job title for the "person in charge" overall in my place of work. We previously had a CEO, but for a number of reasons don't wish to use this title anymore. What do you think would be a reasonable alternative?

We are a small business dealing mostly in consultancy and project management.

Managing Director?

Or does that technically mean something else?

Director?

Lead something or other?

What do all those american firms have - am thinking

general manager

that's not the american thing? still trying to remember that

That's it - american firms always have 15 million "vice presidents"

President probably sounds a bit much though!

We have a Managing Director - does the trick for an SME!!

Manager in Chief?

Operations manager.

Operations Director.

General Dogsbody? my non-official title

Big Kahuna?

Head Honcho?

COO - chief operations officer?
