Just a quick job offer question

I've NC'd as I'm identifiable and my company don't know I'm leaving.

I've been offered a job which is in an exciting role I'd love but for less money than I'm earning now, do companies expect people to go back and ask for a bit more or in this work climate would that be a real no-no?

Do they know your current salary? if so - why are they offerring you less? If not, I don't think it's unreasonable to make the point that it is less. You could be constructive and say that if there is no more money for salary would they be able to pay it as a bonus/perks or something? Or can they ensure you have a salary review/raise at the end of your probabionary period?
