do i return to work on last date on sick note or day after????

Im signed off at the moment at 34 weeks pregnant. My last day at work was due to be 13th July, I then have 3 weeks holiday booked before my mat leave starts 1 week before Im due. The GP has put my sick note to monday 16th July, does this mean that Id be due back in work on 16th (which is want I wanted) or that Id be fit for work on 17th which would be 4 weeks before Im due and would therefore cause my mat leave to kick in??? Help!!

Sick from xxx to xxx so return after that. Could be wrong though

Sick note dates are inclusive. I don't think this is what you want to hear Is there any chance you can get your GP to give you an amended one?

i asked the midwife who said it would mean I was due back on the 17th and go to reception who would get the GP to amend it. When I explained to reception they said that it means Im due back on 16th so it doesnt need changing?? I think Id better ask work what they take it as

You could ask your doctor to change it, but also, just because your employer can automatically start your mat leave doesn't mean they have to do so, and if you're not due into work anyway, I would hav thought it would be more in their interests to let you go ahead and use up your holiday.

the midwife said you're back at work the day after so to ask at reception for the doctor to change it. The receptionist said thats not right and you're due back on the day. I rang our HR department who my employer in their wisdom has now centralised in mumbai, they couldnt tell me. In the end I rang and spoke to one of the managers at work who said that you're due back the day after the date on the sick note so I took it back to the GP and its now been changed. Hard work!!
