Childcare nightmare

I'm a freelancer so thinking about the pros and cons of trying to work in naptimes/after bed/early morning versus paying for some regular childcare which may or may not result in more work/more income. Problem is that nurseries cost a fortune round us and childminders aren't ideally placed location/availability-wise. Anyone got any genius ideas?!

Could your DC go to nursery say 2 days a week, thus keeping the cost down and giving you the opportunity to generate more work. Then the rest of the time you could work around naps/work at night.

I have heard some real negatives from peopel trying to work around their little ones. I also work for a company who use freelancers and those freelancers often have their DCs at home with them and somehow manage it. They don't say whether it's easy or not though!

It's a bit of a nightmare TBH! I've done it a bit and it's fine if they have a really good long sleep at lunch but if anything goes wrong you're screwed. Think I am going to have to bite the bullet!
