Hi,
Anyone out there who has successfully managed to keep to the Gina Ford routine whilst keeping a full day job? All tips welcome please, from feeding to bath time to bedtime to surviving night wakings? Thanks! x PS: My DS is 6 months old and still not sleeping through the night and still a challenging napper!

What will your DC be doing while you're at work? I think you're going to have to accept that you won't stick quite 'to the book', but I also suspect that won't make the blind bit of difference to your DC (I say this as someone who followed GF quite closely with DC1 but not after with DCs 2 and 3 - I have time for GF, unlike some, but I also know from experience that obsessing over it does no one any good). With DC 1 I was out of the house from 7.45, dropping him off at nursery shortly after, and then picked him up at just gone 6. Just took him home, bath and bed - very little else really, which was a bit sad. I always got him into bed for 7 at that point not least because I generally had to do another couple of hours work in the evenings. What I found was that he didn't nap at the GF times AT ALL at nursery - they went out of the window straight away, although he later returned to doing the classic 2 hr nap after lunch and carried on doing this until nearly 3. A friend got a nanny, rather than nursery, specifically because she was so bothered about sticking with the routine.

Hi SummerExhibition, we are thinking of combining nursery and nanny help. Yes agree that the GF routine will probably be compromised. No big deal really, as we have never really got my DS successfully on it, which is why I said he hasn't slept through the night doesn't nap well and oh yes doesn't take his feeds well or enough especially at bedtime! I have been obsessed with the routine to the extent that I hardly dare to head out!
