Want to work again but what could I do?

I need to work again as I'm getting divorced. I used to be cabin crew. I have no degree or A-Levels. Just good GCSEs.

I have been volunteering at my son's primary school in a teaching assistant capacity since January. I love it. But am conscious that it is a job that doesn't pay well.

I am quite drawn to the idea of working in an office. I have never worked in one though so would have no idea of which roles I could apply for and what training would be best to do first.

I am good with people and enjoy working with the public. But I would like something that challenges me.

Any suggestions or thoughts?

I work in an office, am now run the office for a small team in the NHS, although I have a dregree I have never done this before, common sense, good organisation and some computer skills got me it. A lot of admin jobs just state GCSE's so I don't think you are at a disadvantage, your main thing in your favour will be your customer care skills, so look for something which has contact with the public as you will be good at that, have a look around and get some courses under your belt, Learn Direct don't charge for courses if you are not working and doing an IT course such as ECDL (which most employers want) would stand you in good stead, this can be done from home and you just go in for the test.

ECDL? Any office jobs with hours 9.30am to 2.30pm or am I delluding myself?

ECDL is European Computer Driving Licence.

I know someone who was ex-cabin crew and is now a 1st aid trainer - ie working for a company teaching 1st aid training courses. Don't know if that's viable for you?

Oooh that does appeal! I wonder how she got into it? I love all medical stuff and enjoyed learning about first aid.
Could you find out for me how she got into it? Please?

I think it was a case of her having a experience on the planes and then training cabin crew on the ground, and then going to work for one of the 1st aid training companies. HTH
