Redundancy question

Need some advice regarding redundancy. Advised I am being made redundant at end of July at which point I would be given one months notice but would not have to work it. Had a meeting with my boss and he verbally agreed that if I got another job I could go during july and still get my redundancy payment. Was offered another job and accepted to start during July. When I told him he said he couldnt do what he had agreed and I will have to work 1 months notice and leave without any redundancy. Where do I stand?

Redundancy brings out the worst in employers - I'm speaking from recent experience! Is there anyway you could speak to your new employer and ask if you could start at a later date? It would be a shame to miss out on the redundancy package from your current employer - its the only perk of the shock that comes from redundancy. Alternatively speak to citizens advice or directgov. Good luck - but glad you have a new job!!
