Handind in Notice - When do I do it?

Hi.

My 12 months mat leave end on Nov 10 2012. However I want to leave my current employer. I have a new job witch starts July 31st. When do I hand in my notice. my employer needs 4 weeks notice. My 9 months paid leave ends 10th Aug.

Any info is greatly received as I have no idea.

Your smp will end when you start your new job. You can hand your notice any time from now until four weeks before starting your new job (as per contractual notice). If you hand in your notice now you'll still receive your smp until the day you start in your new job.

Did you receive any enhanced maternity pay? If so you'll want to check whether you have to pay that back if you don't wish to return.
