Is there an OU course that would make a Sahm returning to secondary teaching more employable?

clutching at straws here...

Have been away from teaching for 11 years... Shock now want to get back but it is proving difficult. Do you think there is an OU course that would help? Or any other tips?

I think it depends...what is your subject area?
I did an OU module which was 'inclusive education' covered a lot of SEN stuff etc. Module has finished now but been replaced with something else.
The thing is with the OU is that since all the university financial changes they also lost all their government funding so the prices have gone through the roof. What would've cost you £700 last year would now cost you £2500.
They do offer various CPD courses that you can take at any time and I think these are cheaper but I'd be tempted to ask some actual schools what they think about that idea before you shell out.
How long have you been out of teaching for?

Hmmm. I think classroom experience would be much more valuable, even if it was just going into a school for a morning a month o na voluntary basis?

What subject area? OU courses are becoming very expensive now. I'd try to get some supply and/or tutoring experience.
