Moving departments

Hi I need some advice, I've recently moved departments at work to something that's completely different to what I was doing before. I had been in my past role for 5 years and felt I knew how to cope with everything. I've been in my new role for 2 days now and there's so much new to learn. My colleagues are all helpful and trying to show me as much as possible as on Monday I will be on my own that's only two more shifts to learn everything I need to learn. I'm really worried I'm going not going to be able to cope :(

I've worked for the same public sector employer for eight years and changed departments about five times! Once three times in the space of a year (I'm a generic grade and they can move us pretty much anywhere they want to within our highly varied and challenging workplace). I love the change! I love a new department, new people, new challenge. Our department recently had a massive restructure and a lot of people were nervous but I was excited- it's really interesting learning new skills and becoming more knowledgeable about the sector that I work in. I always volunteer for new training at work and additional duties. Without the changes, I'd have become very bored in the same role. Embrace the change and see it as an opportunity to upskill, become more experienced and improve your CV. If the public sector ever starts to recruit again, I'm hoping my varied experience will stand me in a good stead for a promotion. Good luck.
