Decluttering/preparing houses for selling

Would you pay for someone to come and clear out a room or rooms in your house if you had neither the time nor the inclination to do it yourself, given the manic lives we all live now?
I am thinking of setting this up as part of a service getting houses ready for selling or as one off declutters for busy people and wondered if it would be popular or not?

I wondered about doing this too - a la Ann Maurice - the House Doctor!

I'm sure people would be willing to pay, but I thought a good way to do it is via estate agents, i.e. ask them if there's a particularly scruffy house that's been on the market for ages and then get them to sell the idea to the owners, pushing the fact that they either pay £xx for your services or drop the asking price.

Good luck with it.

I don't think I would, but purely because I've the time to do it and DH is a tight wad Grin

But I think there are people that would. Great idea, all the best with it. What sort of price would you charge? Would it be per sq ft, or after a reccy to see what needs doing etc?

Might also be an idea to post this property as well as here? Lots of traffic there and relevant :)

Thanks everyone, feedback already is great! I will also post in properly to see what comes from there too....
In terms of approach, I was looking at both the Estate agent route and the
Private route via a website etc, and with regard to pricing I'm not certain yet as have been given advice on per hour for small jobs and then a set price for whole houses that need "treatment" after a reccy? Sound reasonable? :-)

I'd probably just pay for yellow box storage tbh.

discussed previously on mn

There are House Doctors out there already so don't know if this would overlap.

I suspect it might take off better in some areas than others, if you are somewhere where people are cash rich and time poor it might go better.

I wouldn't pay, I'd be concerned something important would get chucked out! It is a good idea though...
