Any Jamie at Home consultants out there?

I'm considering joining but I do have a few reservations. I love the products and it would fit perfectly around my children but how does it work in relation to tax? Also, how much do you earn for a few parties a week? And what about targets? I presume there must be something in place to prevent jamie fans just joining the consultant offers (buy your kit for £25 etc) and then not actually doing any selling but just keeping the kit? And how do your friends react? Do they give you a wide berth in case you try and sell them stuff?!!

I had a mtg a few weeks ago to look at joining - it all seems a bit too good to be true.

Re targets, it's approx £3000 per season they look for from you, which apparently works out at 1 or 2 parties a week at £250 per party.

I'm waiting until they give the go ahead for consultants to have their own websites to sell from as I've done the party consultant thing before and it's hard work for not much return Sad

Hi Clary - I'm involved in a different direct selling business and just wanted to answer the question about selling to friends. I do sell to friends but am very careful not to pester them (possibly sometimes a bit too paranoid!). You find out fairly quickly who wants to buy from you and who doesn't (often not who you expect!) and they will probably continue to do so. This will only sustain your business for so long, but as you make contacts, you'll find new customers (although not sure what the repeat business is like with Jamie).

Wrt tax, you'll need to register as self-employed with HMRC. If you're quite careful about recording all your expenses tax should not be too much of an issue at the start and if you have another job you may even get a rebate to start with.

Hope that helps.
