Work/childcare issues

Ill try to keep this short....
I return to work in 2 months I have 1 month to tell them if and when I plan to return and what hours.... However we can only afford childcare if we get child tax and working tax credits but then I can't afford the £800 upfront they ask for.... I can't afford not to go back but I can't afford to go back either.... My only choice is to pay a family friend to watch my DD and risk getting caught and prosecuted but I feel like there is too much at stake to risk this.

Just don't know what to do! I'm going to check our tax credits entitlement but have no idea how I can pay childcare upfront when we're struggling as it is..... Anyone have any advice tips I'm getting so stressed out about it as the clock is ticking and I just keep bursting into tears.

Things would have been fine if OH hadn't been laid off and unemployed for 5 months all our savings got used up and we were living on just my 90% pay and our credit card as we weren't entitled to any help.... Where is the support for families who want to work!?

Rant over! Lol

Mummy - hopefully dh is back at work? Also check out re: your tax credits as when my dcs were younger, I arranged with my work to pay monthly straight from my pay so effectively they started going to the nursery on the 1st and the money came out on pay day (the 24th). The credits then paid me 70% of the costs.

I just called HMRC re tax credits and we're not entitled to anything despite childcare costs being £800 per month down here..... At this rate I'll be working 5 days a week for £200 and not paying all my bills or eating!

This country is so backwards!!
