Just wanted to share that with you.

Had an interview still within the company I currently work with on Wednesday, found out Friday I got the job and I start next monday.

It is only a 6 month secondment but in the hope it leads to a permanent position = pay rise

Came home absolutly furious last night

My team manager is trying to throw a spanner in the works.

She has only said she may not be able to let me go as the currecnt dept I work in is short staffed

Looking in the handbook it states that all parties involved should be fully agreed, so because they can't recruit for our dept and all new starts get sent to 1 other dept ALWAYS I suffer along with others too that have applied for different secondments.

Sorry if I have waffled on but I needed to get it out my system

Oh no, what a shame. Can she go back on this?

jambuttie · 21/02/2006 13:42

not sure to be honest, I have to wait till end of the week to find out whats going on

Have told them as I am now on holiday for the rest of the week I want an answer by wednesday evening.

They say they dont want me to move departments but do they honestly think |I want to stay with them now

Good grief, jambuttie for you!!

Some companies just have no idea, do they? As you say, do they honestly think you'll stay with them now.

So what have they achieved except loose a valued member of the team. This sort of treatment makes me soooooooo angry for you.

RedRidingHood · 21/02/2006 20:47

If it is a higher graded job it may be 'stopping your career development'. I work for local govt and used that one when i got a secondment to my present job. Also they had to let me go within 4 weeks - check your staff handbook and if in a union speak to them.

Hope all goes well.

jambuttie · 21/02/2006 21:14

looked under "secondment" within staff handbook and the only thing they can make me stay on is " that all parties must be agreed"

In fairness to my manager they are normally given 4 weeks notice before secondment begins, I have been given a weeks notice. So as much as I am fine with this she ain't, but to try and block it totally is uncalled for

Ok latest on this subject

I am not getting to go

My manager has blocked the secondment cause we are shot staffed, so really as they can't recruit/keep staff within the department then I suffer
