Hi. I have an interview for a job tomorrow. I've already spoken to someone from the company prior to being offered an interview. He asked what salary I was currently on so I did a quick calc of this years salary plus our target 10% bonus which isn't guaranteed but we do always get approaching the 10% and gave him that figure... Then he asked about other benefits and I told him and he asked if I got a bonus and I said yes. He asked what I wanted for new job nd he said it was fine and well within range..
End of phone call and I worry I haven't made it clear that figure I gave included bonus. Anyway, I have then to fill in online app and I don't want it to differ from what I told him so I put same figure in against salary and include bonus under 'other benefits'...
Now I'm worried! I am pretty sure my current employer don't give out salary details but if I get the job they'll get my P45 and be able to work salary out from that...
I also didn't want to say my current salary as I'm currently underpaid in my role (according to my employer's pay principles) and wanted to get out that rut - not leave it open for new employer to devalue me again...
Help! Do HR check p45 against salary info on application and what would happen if they do? Also, would they be ok with explanation that it includes bonus? The discrepancy is 10% of my salary....
