Dh decided that he wanted to become freelance working for his own so we sent leaflets to loads and loads of places. No work came in straight away so Dh applied for and got a full time job which he starts tomorrow but now the work seems to be coming in....what to do? decisions decisions...! he could turn down work for now saying he is too busy and already booked etc but "please bear me in mind again" and could also do some weekends and evenings for cash jobbies (tut tut) as this would give him a bit longer to suss out the workflow. mmm not sure which way to go on this one.

what does he do? can the other work be done in evenings or weekends until he knows whether it will be regular?

He has spoken to Inland Revenue and can be both employed and self employed if he so wishes. As the work he does as s/e will have to be odd evenings and weekends it probably won't earn enough in the early stages to pay NI and Tax and so he can apply to be exempt. At least he can register and do it all correctly though as would hate to get into bother for something. He is turning some work down as its physically impossible (he is a Head Chef/freeland chef) but he is taking on some evenings for now.
