Dh has got a job, hurrah!

Dh was made redundant at end of November. Horrid timing. Has been going for loads of interviews but kept being pipped to the post or told he was overqualified for jobs paying more than his old one. Grrr.

But he's just been offered a job doing what he enjoys! AND he managed to negotiate the pay up to his level despite them telling him even before interview there was no room for manoeuvre! Am so proud of him for being so persuasive and business-like.

Phew. Has been very stressful because I went part-time and freelance last year so have been panicking. And now, hopefully, it will be OK.

LOL doormat. Will have to see what we've got in - have been working flat out for past few days so haven't really paid attention (was working till midnight last night...). Managed to run out to the garage today and get dh a card but it was Not Up to Scratch (he was happy, though). Am I turning into a bloke?

tigermoth · 14/02/2006 18:26

very happy for you and your dh, edam! A weight off your shoulders, I'd imagine.

I had to laugh when I saw valentines cards on sale at our local off licence - a place never known to stock any sort of card. Definintely trying to capture the bloke market.

edam · 14/02/2006 18:28

Thank you everyone! Didn't notice myself but someone else told me they were charging a tenner for a single rose at the garage.

Well done. I'm looking for a job ATM and DH has started on his own, so I know how it's like to start worrying about money and the future.

motherinferior · 14/02/2006 21:02

Thank you! Am showing thread to dh. The thing is he's not normally very good at negotiating pay. He's really good at what he does but too darn nice to turn things to his own advantage if you know what I mean. So I'm really, really proud of him.

And lots of luck to you Cristina7, hope something great comes along for you.

Oh, the funniest thing is new boss rang mobile, which dh didn't pick up in time, then rang home phone - I was expecting someone I was due to interview so answered with my name, then as I was explaining this, ds picked up the extension and started chatting away. New boss was very nice about it though, which is a good sign, no?
