Flexible childcare arrangements

Hi

I'm planning on returning to work when my dd is nearly 1 and starring to consider options (a bit prematurely - 6 weeks old!)

I have a very flexible job and I intend to go back 3 days a week / 21 ish hours. I would be able to vary those hours within the weeks to suit my diary - eg some full days, some part days some 4 day weeks some 2 day etc.

I would like flixible child care to suit this. One option would presumably be to pay for full time nursery and use it to suit - not much more for our local nurseries. Another to advertise for a nanny/cm who is interested in a flexible role.
A third option is to use a mix of friends and family if I can find them.

I'm interested in views on this, and also knowing at what point a basically babysitting arrangement becomes nannying - and what quals and registrations I should expect.

Thanks in advance!
