Part time & bank holidays

Am thinking of going back to work part time, just 16/18 hours and seem to remember a big debate about bank holidays and holiday allowance.

What would the difference be if I split my hours monday to friday or just took them tuesday to thursday as surely there shouldn't be any difference to my entitlement.

Could somebody explain it for me please, sorry for being a bit thick!

You would need to add all the bank holidays together, divide them by full time hours and then times by hours worked. That should give you allowance. Same with normal holiday.

There wouldn't be any difference in your entitlement, but what you do need to bear in mind is that as most BH's are Monday, if you are supposed to work Monday you can end up with the situation that every Monday you owe work time, and have to take Annual leave.

Oh thank you for your responses. I had heard actually of people working mondays having to take bank holidays as annual leave and then owing time but I'm not planning to work a monday so it shouldn't make any difference then.

Thank you
