I am looking for work for the first time in a long time. I am filling in an application form and have a few questions.

I am ok with writing about tangible matters eg qualifications/experience but how do you proove more intangible qualities such as being hard working or confindent?

Thanks

You need to think of examples to quote. Something along the lines of 'My experience in organising PTA events (or whatever) made good use of my outgoing personality and organisational skills... or 'When working at XYZ I was praised for always completing assignments on time...

Does that help?

Thanks, that helps.

I do have a problem in seeing the things I am good at doing which is not very helpful whilst writing an application form.

All I can suggest is that you make a list of the 'qualities' and 'skills' that are in the person spec for the post you want.
Then on a large sheet of paper make a list of all the things you've done that you are proud of, that you've been praised for, you enjoyed doing etc. This can take an age but can be really worth the time - get a friend to help if you think they can.
Then try to match the job spec 'want' with a matching 'done'.
Your potential employer needs to know what you can actually do, not that you think you can do it.
Good luck!!
