should I chase flexible working request?

I put a flexible working request at the end of last month by email and first class post (HR had been expecting it). I didn't receive any acknowledgement that they had received it and as I am going away at the end of the month for several weeks, I'd like to have the meeting before then (which would be within the 28 day period).
Should I chase them? They are a law firm, so they should be aware of the deadline, but at the same time, I wonder if I should remind them. I'll have to arrange childcare to go to the meeting, so would like some notice..
I don't want to look pushy..

I had the same issue when i decided to return to work after my second child. You should re-send the original email with a short message advising that you thought you would resend it as you have yet to receive a response to your original request. If they fail to respond you may have to point out the importance of them upholding their policies and procedures. Perhaps even forward a copy of it to them. This is a final resort. Good luck and congratulations on your little bundle. I just looked at the date you placed your post. Am hoping that my advise is pointless and it's all been sorted for you. Take care.
