Just wondered if anyone had any experience of working on a retainer basis? How do you work it practically and what are the pros and cons?
I need to quote for a project that will span several months but I think it's going to be difficult to know up front exactly how much work is involved. I was thinking of agreeing a set number of hours per week on a retainer basis might seem most sensible but I usually quote a fixed fee for shorter projects so I'm not exactly sure of how to work this, or what the pitfalls might be. How do you manage it if you work more or less than arranged?
