References - how old is too old?

Have an interview tomorrow and am wondering who to give as a reference. Last proper job was 7 years ago. I contacted my line manager and another manager - they were both happy to give reference but after so long will that still count for anything?
Recently I had a small job in december - 1 month and a bit of money. It was over the internet and the contact was all through a website. Not sure how I could give that for a reference.

I think in your case I would get in touch with the website people and see if they will allow you to put their details forward. Three references including your most recent employer is a hell of a lot better than only two from so long ago.

I would provide all three - though personally I hate hate hate asking people to provide a reference. I hate it so bad it's enough to make me not want to apply for another job. Am I alone?
