Not sure I can do this...

Just applied for a full time job after being at home for 10 years (well I have worked from home remotely but not in the workplace). It is very scary but I think I need to do it for my own sense of self.

I have three kids aged DD11, DS19 and DS26. Not sure how I am going to manage the logistics ... I can kind of see how I am going to do the evenings... will manage to find some form of cover I think. What worries me more are the holidays ... My OH does work at home some of the time but he also travels. My kids are not very sporty so football camp will not sit well with them. Any thoughts?

I wouldn't worry until you get offered the job tbh

Can't the 26 & 19 year olds look out for your 11 yr old in the holidays?

lisata · 28/03/2012 18:02

@Gumby .... that was a typo they are 11, 9 and 6! The 11 year old is fairly responsible but not up to that!

Yes I should wait.... job is a very good fit though... guess thats what has got me worried!

Depends where you are: round here there are loads of different holiday clubs, some sporty, others crafty, others a mix. Start looking around and talking to other parents at school and see what they do, so that if you get the job you have an idea of where to start.

Childminder is a good option, as at that age the kids may want to do their own thing, rather than be forced into a sports club or something. The other way that's really good with older kids is a local student whose home for the holidays. When my kids were around that age they thought it was great hanging out with an older teen/twenties student .

What are you going to use for before/ after school? If its a cm, you may find they're happy to just up their hours in the hols
