Change of hours

I plan on returning to work in late July after 9 months of maternity leave. As it happens DH is a chef in a nursery, the nursery that DD will be going to. DH works 7:30am - 3:30pm and nursery starts at 7:30am, DH needs to be in work by 7:15am and so I will be going with them and looking after DD for the 15 mins that nursery is not yet open. The nursery is just around the corner from my work so this is conveniant.

However my hours are 8:30am - 4:30pm. Subsequently I would like to change my hours to 8:00am - 4:00pm as this will fit in with DH and DD and we can all go/come back from work/nursery together.

When I started with my company I worked 9 - 5 and simply asked them if I could change to 8:30am - 4:30pm, they said yes straight away and I didn't have to put in a formal request. My company are very flexible and I don't think there are many people who work the usual 9-5. That said, I don't know if everyone was told 'yes' straight away like I was.

Do you think I will still need to follow the usual 'return to work change of hours' request as stated by law? I have a meeting in a couple of weeks with work about my return (I have already given them notice) and could just discuss it with them then but there will be two of them and one of me and one of them is a bit of a....funny one who wants things done properly. Not that it's funny to want things done properly!!

Just after opinions really.

I'd just have a chat with them initially, it sounds like they're likely to be flexible.
