Hi,

Just after a little advice if possible. My dd is 2 months old and I'm due to go back to work in October. I was working ft but was going to go back 3 days a week as cannot bear the thought of dd being in childcare all week. I've had a look and with the childcare costs and drop in income I am way worse off going back to work. I love the people I work for so if I'm not goin back to work want to let them know ASAP. If I quit my job while on maternity leave am I eligible for income support?

Hi Jellabella,

I think it depends on your household income. Do you have a live-in partner/ husband? It might be worth giving your local jobcentre a call to found out.

I'm in a similar predicament; 34 weeks pregnant and I'm not sure whether a) I could cope with working full time and the demands of being a single parent, b) Like you, I do not like the idea of my baby being in full time childcare.

Have you looked on the Directgov website?
