Finally taking the plunge into an area I have been toying with for a while.

But I really need a website that a) I can manage with minimal website building knowledge b) I can load videos and music onto myself as it will change frequently c) can be expanded to include a shop at a later date and d) wont cost the earth to build or host (would prefer monthly payments rather than yearly)

Any recommendations gladly recieved!

Also, what do we think about calling a company that provided live classical, spanish and jazz musicians for weddings and corporate functions Recherché Music?

May I suggest you look at a WordPress site? If you have a domain name and buy a hosting package with a ?one click WordPress installation? feature (most of them offer these as standard but do check), you can then easily set up a site yourself. If you use a US company like Hostgator for the hosting, they are very cheap and perfectly reliable (I use them myself).

You can easily upload different types of media, including video and audio. Not sure about a shopping cart but I am certain that there would be a plug-in for that (plugins are features that you can add onto your original site).

I have two WordPress sites, both of which I did myself. This one here www.howtobeavirtualassistant.co.uk is a very quick, no-nonsense site just to help sell an eBook and this one is my main blog/info site for home workers www.domestic-entrepreneur.com

With the second I installed a paid for ?theme? (i.e. template) but there are lots of free WordPress themes available as well.

Good name!

I use Webeden

it's brilliant - does take a bit of getting used to, but basically, you can choose templates, if you don't know what you're doing ,and put your own words/texts/pictures etc on.
But you don't have to stick with their templates - my own website started as a template, but now it looks nothing like the template i had.

it's all done with Flash, so you don't have to know html or anything.
It's like desktop publishing , you insert this here, click and drag it over here etc.

You can buy your own domain names, and it's pretty cheap.

I have to link to my choir website - it's on the same account as my shop website (the package i use has shopping through paypal and you can have 5 websites)
www.stmichaelschoir.webeden.co.uk

you can buy a domain name for each site, or use a free webeden one. (my shop has a proper domain name, which costs about £10 for 2 years)

(plus, you can have a go first, with a free domain, free site to see if you like it - then you can transfer that site to a paid site if you decide to buy one.
You can also keep your free site if you want by having google ads on it)

Thats brilliant, thank you :)

They both sound like what I am looking for, the trouble is that there are so many sites that offer this service that I dont want to go with the wrong one, so recommendations are great!

thanks again.
