Hi, just thought I would put a thread on as I am a little confused and wondered if anyonce can help or give advice. I have an 8 month old daughter and I am working full time - which is killing me. The weekend is spent doing housework, etc and I really feel I am missing out on time with my daughter. I would like to go part time and work Mon/Wed/Fri and have my daughter on Tues/Fri. For the next year or so I am not bothered about a career. I just want a job that pays the bills and lets me spend some time with my daughter. But this is proving hard to find. I wonder if it would be worth my while giving up ork for several months. WOuld I get any benefits? Has anyone got any suggestions please?

Can you not ask your present employer for flexible working arrangements - they have a right to consider but not necessarily approve. The working arrangements can be for a set period of time, they don't have to be a permanent change to your contract - I have approved a change in days/hours for an employee who wanted to change for 18 months but then intend to revert to full-time.
