Who to have as referees?

I want to try to get back into secondary teaching after a decade of being a sahm. Who shoukd I pick as my two referees - headteacher of primary school where I am a governor, boss of marketing company that I've done some occasional work for in the last couple of years, head of department from my kast teaching job?

After 10 years I would have thought that 'recent' is more important than 'relevant', so I'd say go with the HT and the marketing company.
The content of the reference will be personal experience of professionalism, organisational abilities, comunication skills (or whatever) but would probably be more relevant than how good a teacher you were so long ago.

I expect others may have different thoughts though ...

I agree , go for the recent ones.
Could you do some voluntary work in a school using your teaching skills in some way and then get a reference from that?

I've seen a job advertised now so can't do any volunteering befire applying fir this one.
