I returned from mat leave to a pt role over a year ago. The company has since been sold and of course restructured to take out a lot of course. There are now no pt roles available and my area has conveniently gone from 2.6 to 2 fte. Guess which bit I am. With a requirement to be in the office 2 days a week (5hr round trip, I'm Homebased with travel) just checking they can make me redundant and I'm being duped because I'm pt?

They can make anyone redundant when there are good business needs to change the way the company works (a common scenario in hard times). Does this restructuring affect only your branch, or is it happening elsewhere?

What reasons have been given for the need for redundancy, and what are the criteria for selection? Is the package on offer in line (or exceeding ) the statutory minimum and/or what is in your contract?

This does sound crap for you, but the company is not necessarily acting wrongly. Is you sector having particular difficulties?

It was bought by a private equity firm who look at bottom line and profits. Hence the need to restructure and get rid of a lot of sea and marketing people. IMO I can see business need to improve bottom line just annoyed there are no pt alternatives and enraged that I found out I was at risk by opening up a general email sent to everyone and that I wasn't talked to in person

There is some protection in law for part time workers. They mustn't treat you less favourably because you are part time. Whatever process they use to select for redundancy should not be unfair to you and the employer must make all reasonable efforts to accommodate your part time hours which might include advertising for a job share partner for you for exam
