I have applied for a teaching assistant role and have been asked to come for a second interview which I am thrilled about as I really really want this job.the first interview was standard, I chatted a lot and had prepared pretty thoroughly.the second " interview" will be in he classroom where I will be helping the teacher with an activity.
I am not shy,I love the kids and got chatting with some of them before my first interview.
Do you think the head will be watching me or just ask the class teacher what she thought? And how can I prepare for this? I will also be going outside at break time too.
Any tips wd be really helpful as I am desperate to get it. It's between two of us.

Difficult to say if the head will watch - likely they will but could also rely on teacher (and sometimes kids!) for their input. Do you know what the activity will be? If not, I would try and show initiative where you can. e.g looking for the table that need support before being told etc. Engage a lot with the kids about what they're doing & support whatever their learning objective is. Try and focus on their learning & supporting them with their task. Depending in their age, they may side track you with chit chat!
When you're outside, again try and chat with the kids- maybe some from the class as others won't recognise you and won't necessarily stop to chat. Or, it may be that you will be chatting to the teacher on duty while they suss you out & report back!
Be confident, friendly and professional. Good luck!

I got the job! I did exactly what you said. The class teacher gave me a detailed p,an of what I had to do with my table...I kept them focused and we did ok. Outside I walked around and chatted to kids which was nice, but also chatted a bit to other teacher too. I start after Easter hols.a great boost and looking forward to it.thanks for your advice,it really helped.
