How long does self-certifying last for?

I am currently off sick. I can't get an appt for dr's so will have to go back in work once my self-certifying days arenover but I have no idea when this is! I've been off since Wednesday. Thanks.

It is for one week of work, so you would have to go back in on Tuesday.

This is the standard government form for illness, but your employer may have their own variant.

Damn I mean go back in on Wednesday - your last day of illness would be on Tuesday. God my brain is mince at this time in the morning! Sorry!

With reference to a doctors appointment, mine will certify backwards - so if I go in on the Friday, I can say that I'd self-certified for my week, but that expired on the Tuesday - and provided I'm not malingering, they certify me for the relevant period especially if I haven't been able to get an appointment.
